“Dr. Morton S. Biskind of New York reported in the March issue of The American Journal of Digestive Diseases that the “virus X” syndrome, which has been prevalent in the United States for the last two years, is in reality due to DDT poisoning.”
— The New York Times 1949.
“Scobey has insistently questioned the virus theory and asserts that a toxin accounts for the pathologic findings.”
— Professor Hoyne M.D. 1951.
Ralph R. Scobey
Dr. Ralph R. Scobey MD, professor of clinical pediatrics and president of the Poliomyelitis Research Institute, Syracuse, N.Y. wrote several articles criticizing the official polio narrative.
Scobey’s articles are very thorough with lots of references, where he describes how the infectious and communicable theory of polio was politicized, and how any toxicological view was subverted.
Scobey’s most prominent article, which he prepared for Congress, is entitled The Poison Cause of Poliomyelitis and Obstructions to Its Investigation. He provides evidence for poisons as the etiologic factor of poliomyelitis, outlines a relationship between harvest and polio, criticizes the communicable and infectious doctrine of polio, describes mistakes in the past whereby diseases considered to be infectious and communicable were later conclusively shown to be neither infectious nor communicable.

Morton S. Biskind
In the late 1940s, a physician by the name of Morton S. Biskind began noticing a dramatic increase of ailments in the people he treated, as well as in domestic animals and wildlife.
His investigation led him to consider the pesticide DDT as the etiologic agent.
In the early 1950s, Biskind testified before Congress and argued that polio were mainly caused by the ongoing government and industry sponsored inundation of the world’s populace with central nervous system poisons.

I highly recommend reading Public Health Aspects of the New Insecticides by Biskind and The Poison Cause of Poliomyelitis and Obstructions to Its Investigation by Scobey, this will give you an excellent overview of the medical establishment’s flawed polio narrative.
